Two seven-foot Westmed cannulas in the same manufacturer’s table have different earpiece descriptions. AirLife lists 0556 with Soft Ears and 0556-EM with Ear Mates. If an ultra-soft adult-cannula offer is meant to replace your existing item, the complete code matters more than a broad comfort headline.
Read across the row, not just down the names
The 0556 row identifies an adult Comfort Soft Plus cannula with green tubing, seven-foot length and trumpet connector. Its listed quantity is 50. The 0556-EM row also describes an adult seven-foot green-tubing configuration with a trumpet connector, but gives Ear Mates as the earpiece.
That comparison does not show that one earpiece is better or appropriate for you. It does show why a seller answer of ‘Westmed seven-foot’ may be incomplete. Ask for the full code on the delivered label and which earpiece is supplied.
The retailer five-pack is not the manufacturer’s listed case quantity. Confirm the selected unit count separately from the model. A familiar package photograph does not establish the identity or handling of five individual units.
Use comfort language to formulate a question
Soft Ears and Ear Mates are earpiece names, not clinical outcomes. Breathwell has not fitted either version, and no comparative wear study or reduction in ear injury is established for this retail pack.
If the reason for replacing the cannula is ear discomfort, say where the tubing is uncomfortable and ask the supplier to examine the actual arrangement. MedlinePlus recommends asking the equipment provider about ear-protection cushions. This general advice is not an endorsement of a Westmed version, nor a direction to alter the tubing or add an unassessed accessory.
Keep the purchase and care decisions connected
Ask the supplier to confirm the complete label, connection and applicable directions against the existing system. Retain the code and answer with your equipment information so the next order does not depend on recognizing a picture.
Do not independently alter prescribed oxygen flow. The manufacturer row identifies a component; it does not select treatment, establish the complete system’s delivery or supply a replacement schedule.
The supported finding is a specific earpiece distinction within an adult seven-foot family. Retail authenticity, individual comfort and clinical performance remain unresolved. No universal-fit, irritation-free or better-adherence recommendation is made for the five-pack.

Evidence and limits
The undated AirLife catalogue distinguishes the 0556 and 0556-EM earpieces and lists case quantities. Those rows do not authenticate a retailer’s five-pack or establish which version will be comfortable for an individual.
